Reminder: Otero College Child Development Services Head Start students will have early release at noon on Thursday, October 19 and Thursday, October 26.

Periodically, staff has the opportunity to participate in wellness activities led by our Wellness team in conjunction with the WELL (Wellbeing of the ECE Workforce in Low-resourced Locations) program. Recently, staff completed mindfulness calendars and submitted them to be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by WELL. Attention Head Start families: Program hours for centers in Lamar, Las Animas, La Junta, Rocky Ford and Manzanola will change to 7:45 am until 3:15 pm beginning October 16. Breakfast will begin at 7:45 am. If you have questions, please contact your Center Manager.

The City of La Junta, La Junta Police Department, La Junta Fire Department and Emergency Services visited Early Head Start in La Junta this morning as part of the program's safety presentation during socialization. Thank you to the City crews for taking the time to visit with our families!

Otero College Child Development Services hosted the Tryke Races Saturday in La Junta. The event was part of La Junta Chamber of Commerce's Early Settlers Day celebration and sponsored by DeBourgh Manufacturing. CDS gave participating children helmets, knee pads and elbow pads. Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered for the event!

Santiago M. and his Early Head Start friends recently attended an end-of-year celebration at the Pueblo Zoo. Families toured the Zoo, participated in a scavenger hunt and enjoyed a lunch provided by Otero College Child Development Services and community partners.
